What are Overmakes?

When a factory have leftover garments then they are called overmakes because they have over-made on the order. Often they stay in the factory gathering dust for years or they are shredded to be recycled or they are put in landfills. Although some do get recycled it is a massive waste of water and energy that goes into making those garments. 300,00 tons of clothing go into landfills in the U.K alone and all over the world it is more like 92 million tons of clothes per year. 5% of all waste entering landfills across the globe are clothes.
